Tickets are selling fast for the biggest concert tour of 2011  country giants Kenny Chesney and Zac Brown shouldn’t have a problem this summer on their upcoming nine-city “Goin’ Coastal” tour. “Every year we try and bring the biggest and best lineup for the fans,” Chesney tells Rolling Stone exclusively. “I think Zac’s album is true to him and the fan base that he has built. His fans and mine will go hand in hand.”

The tour kicks off March 19 at the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida and wraps August 27 at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Mass. Chesney’s publicist says several more arena and amphitheatre dates are to be announced.

Expect onstage collaborations between the two singers, who both had number one albums this year. “Every year, all the acts on the tour get the opportunity to come out on stage with us and I think that creates an incredible environment,” says Chesney. “I’m sure next year will be no different.”

The shows will be all-day events, with openers Billy Currington and Uncle Kracker.

Chesney took 2010 off to record Hemingway’s Whiskey. “I think we all needed [time off], he says. “But I believe that time off has strengthened my relationship with the fans I feel it in my gut. We’re gonna perform a lot of songs from Hemingway’s Whiskey and that will bring a new energy to the show. The band and I will hit the stage with a focused purpose and that’s to give the fans a night they will never forget.”

Tickets will go on sale starting November 20. At least 7,000 tickets in each city will be available at $25 apiece.

Seafood festival attracts tens of thousands

The annual New Jersey Seafood Festival, taking place Friday through Sunday, June 13, in Belmar.

From lobster and crab cakes to conch fritters and alligator sausage, the offerings at the 24th event are designed to please exotic palates and Shore-fare purists alike.

As they have in the past, tens of thousands of hungry seafood lovers from all over the state and beyond will descend on this small Monmouth County town’s Silver Lake Park, Ocean Avenue, where chefs from 45 restaurants will serve up fish, shellfish and more.

The festival’s expansion to Friday is new, as is the addition of wine experts, who will be available to chat about pairings and vintages under Long Branch catering company Branches’ tent.

Throughout the long weekend, Jersey rock, R&B, jazz and blues bands will provide free entertainment, and craft and commercial vendors and kids’ activities will mean fun for all.

Admission is free,
Festival hours are 4-7 p.m. Friday; 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

FREEHOLD — The Monmouth County Prosecutor’s office late yesterday identified the driver of the car that struck and killed New Jersey State Trooper Marc Castellano on Sunday as a 20-year-old Jackson man, Robert R. Swan.

The vehicle, a Volkswagen Jetta, struck the 29-year-old Castellano just before 10 a.m. as numerous state police troopers searched for fugitives in a vehicle abandoned on I-195 westbound at the Howell Township exit.

No charges have been filed against Swan. Prosecutor’s spokesman Pete Warshaw wouldn’t detail how the crash happened.

“It’s all part of the investigation right now,” he said. Nor would he comment on what the fugitive vehicle was wanted for on the State Police BOLO (Be On the Lookout) list.

One of the fugitives, Diana Hoffman, 30, of Blackwood, was spotted hiding behind a tree and arrested near the scene. Troopers searched for hours for a man she said was riding in that car with her before suspending the hunt at 6 p.m. Sunday, and revealing they “are also investigating the validity of Hoffman’s claim ....”

The six-year veteran trooper and father of two young children lost his legs there and died hours later at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune.

Nothing more could be learned about Swan last night. Plenty, however, came out about Diana Hoffman at a hearing in Superior Court yesterday where her bail was raised from $350,000 to $500,000 by Judge Thomas F. Scully.

In arguing for higher bail, Assistant Prosecutor Rick Incremona told Judge Scully that Hoffman was part of another recent state police pursuit in Tuckerton, a chase that was curtailed to protect the public.

It was also revealed that early Sunday morning, State Trooper Shaun Murray signalled Hoffman to pull over in Wall, triggering this high-speed chase. After her car was found abandoned on I-195, they went looking for her.

Incremona also said Hoffman has two prior Superior Court convictions and allegedly failed to appear in court three times in the last five years.

He said prosecutors expect to charge her today with first-degree false public alarm — setting in motion the chain of events that led to Castellano’s death. She could get a 10- to 20-year sentence.

She faced a raft of charges on which she appeared in court yesterday: eluding by taking a state police officer on a high-speed pursuit (second degree), hindering her own apprehension by providing false identification (third degree), resting arrest (third degree) and cocaine and heroin possession (third degree).

The judge said Hoffman told the court she has been unemployed for 2½ months and is the single mother of four children who live with their father. She said she is a three-year former employee for Berlin Coil in Berlin.

Two more witnesses tell of sexual talk with former St. Rose coach

A former St. Rose High School baseball coach advised one of his players to go home and measure his penis and report back the number, the former player identified in court as Victim No. 5 told jurors today.
He also testified that his coach advised him to use condoms when masturbating and invited the boy to bring a used condom to him.

”I thought it was the strangest (request) yet,’’ he said in court.

Bartholomew ”Coach Bart’’ McInerney, 43, of Spring Lake Heights, a well-known, well-liked, longtime baseball coach at St. Rose High School in Belmar, is standing trial on 12 counts of endangering the welfare of a child, involving sexually explicit conversations about masturbation and other topics he allegedly had with a dozen boys between the ages of 15 and 17 from 2001 to November 2007, when he was arrested. All but one of the boys was a player on McInerney’s St. Rose baseball teams. The parents of a 13th boy believe their son was too a victim and committed suicide over the scandal.

Victim No. 5 said he took a used condom to his coach inside an envelope. He said McInerney then held the condom up and explained the semen inside was what was going to get the boy in trouble. The victim said McInerney then disposed of the item.

Under cross-examination from defense attorney Charles Uliano, the former player said McInerney spoke to him about semen volume and what was normal for a boy his age.

He also testified McInerney gave him a video camera to videotape himself masturbating and his facial expressions while performing the act. The boy said McInerney put the camera in a brown paper bag and handed it to him, but he never used the camera. Later, when McInerney asked him about the video camera the boy told him he had done what his coach suggested, and they destroyed the tape together.

Another witness, dubbed Victim No. 2, also took the witness stand today. He was not a player on McInerney’s team, but played on his brother Tim McInerney’s soccer team at St. Rose.

That boy said Bart McInerney brought up masturbation and the boy’s sexual activity during a two-hour drive to Brick from Belmar. He said he was ”pretty taken aback’’ and ”extremely uncomfortable’’ with the conversation.

”It seemed like he really wanted to know the answers and find out what I had to say,’’ he told the jurors.

Assistant Monmouth County Prosecutor Peter Boser asked the boy if Tim Mcinerney ever did anything wrong to him.

”Absolutely not,’’ he shot back.

"Did you feel confident to tell Tim about the conversations?’’ Boser followed up.

”I couldn’t. I felt he would have been crushed. I would have lost a friend, and he wouldn’t believe me,’’ Victim No. 2 said.

Boser also asked why he didn’t tell another adult about the conversation and subsequent conversations with Bart McInerney.

”He was an authority figure and a coach at school – his brother was my soccer coach. I figured it was a good idea to keep my mouth shut and get through this awkward situation,’’ the witness said.

He also told jurors how Bart McInerney paid his way on a trip to North Carolina, with several other boys from the school supervised only by the coach, and attended other outings to baseball games in Boston and a baseball team trip to Hawaii.
